Finance

The Finance Department is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting the city’s financial transactions in accordance with all applicable accounting, city, and other governmental guidelines and requirements. The department strives to serve the citizens of Macclenny with a high standard of ethics and integrity in the city’s financial management.

As part of their fiscal oversight and accounting duties, the members of the Finance Department provide other services such as: 

  • Assisting with the preparation of the annual operating budget
  • Administration of the city’s property and liability insurance programs
  • Overseeing and managing the purchasing any goods, services or materials needed for our City to maintain a successful level of public service
  • Negotiating with outside vendors and contractors who are offering services or products of interest to the City
  • Ensuring the quality and reliability of both, the products and the services, that our City uses while making sure this is accomplished at a competitive and reasonable cost
  • Manage accounts payable disbursements
  • Monitoring budgetary controls

Payroll

The Payroll Administrator is primarily responsible for ensuring that employees are paid. The Payroll Administrator’s job will involve managing everything to do with payments, withholdings and time-off reporting.

Responsibilities

The Payroll Administrator will manage and oversee the following tasks:

  • Employee direct deposits
  • Employee benefits
  • Payroll deductions, garnishments and levies
  • Flexible spending accounts
  • Employee W-2s
  • Employee retirement programs
  • Workers’ Compensation

Human Resources

The Human Resources Office is responsible for handling any employee related concerns and needs that arise within our City.

Responsibilities

The Human Resources Office is responsible for:

  • Recruiting and advertising for new employees
  • Assisting with new employee compensation
  • Assisting with analyzing employee performance and evaluations
  • Onboarding and training of new employees
  • Continuing education of employees
  • Employee record keeping
