Zoning (Planning & Development)
The Building department is responsible for overall planning responsibilities. This department is also responsible for administrative support to the City Of Macclenny’s Zoning Adjustment Board. This department implements the procedural tasks required to implement zoning code amendments, special exceptions, and variances. This department is responsible for setting up meetings for the Zoning Adjustment Board, taking the minutes of those meetings, sending out required documents, and providing general support for the Administration office.
The department administers the Comprehensive Plan; Zoning, Subdivision and Land Development Regulations; Sign and Advertising Structure Regulations; and conservation programs, including trees and native vegetation regulations. The department also helps with administering several grants, including the Community Development Block Grant, and various economic redevelopment initiatives.
Additionally, this department reviews applications for various types of development permits and is available to provide procedural information to the public, the Zoning Adjustment Board, and the City Commission.
